【摘要】:ThisBritishStandarddescribesthepropertiesofpowdersandbulkmaterialsthatarecommonlyusedwhendesigningcontinuoushandlingequipmentsystemsforpowdersandbulkmaterials.Thestandardgivesguidanceonmethodsandproceduresforthedeterminationofthesecharacteristics.Thisstandarddoesnotdescribethefollowingproperties:a)combustibility;b)electricalproperties;c)explosibility;d)flammability;e)thermalproperties;f)hygiene;g)toxicity.NOTEForinformationonitemsa)toe)attentionisdrawntoTheEquipmentandProtectiveSystemsIntendedforUseinPotentiallyExplosiveAtmospheres(Amendment)Regulations2001[1].Thisstandardisnotapplicabletothefollowingcategoriesofmaterials:1)materialsthatdonotbehaveaspowdersorbulkmaterials(forexamplecakes,sludges,saturatedanddrainedmaterials,slurries);2)frozenmaterials;3)chemicallyreactivematerials(forexamplewhichsolidifyonexposuretoair)unlessaninertatmospherecanbemaintained;4)fibrousorstringymaterialswhoseparticlesinterlock.

【摘要】:MethodAmakesuseofthesamecompactionequipmentandmoldscommonlyavailableinsoillaboratoriesandusedforothersoil-cementtests.ItisconsideredthatMethodAgivesarelativemeasureofstrengthratherthanarigorousdeterminationofcompressivestrength.Becauseofthelesserheighttodiameterratio(1.15)ofthecylinders,thecompressivestrengthdeterminedbyMethodAwillnormallybegreaterthanthatforMethodB.MethodB,becauseofthegreaterheighttodiameterratio(2.00),givesabettermeasureofcompressivestrengthfromatechnicalviewpointsinceitreducescomplexstressconditionsthatmayoccurduringtheshearingofMethodAspecimens.Inpractice,MethodAhasbeenmorecommonlyusedthanMethodB.Asaresult,ithasbeencustomarytoevaluateorspecifycompressivestrengthvaluesasdeterminedbyMethodA.AfactorforconvertingcompressivestrengthvaluesbasedonheighttodiameterratioisgiveninSection8.3Note18212;TheagencyperformingthistestmethodcanbeevaluatedinaccordancewithPracticeD3740.Notwithstandingstatementsonprecisionandbiascontainedinthistestmethod:theprecisionofthistestmethodisdependentonthecompetenceofthepersonnelperformingitandthesuitabilityoftheequipmentandfacilitiesused.AgenciesthatmeetthecriteriaofPracticeD3740aregenerallyconsideredcapableofcompetentandobjectivetesting.UsersofthistestmethodarecautionedthatcompliancewithPracticeD3740doesnot,initself,ensurereliabletesting.Reliabletestingdependsonmanyfactors;PracticeD3740providesameansofevaluatingsomeofthesefactors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthecompressivestrengthofsoil-cementusingmoldedcylindersastestspecimens.1.2Twoalternativeproceduresareprovidedasfollows:1.2.1MethodA-Thisprocedureusesatestspecimen4.0in.(101.6mm)indiameterand4.584in.(116.4mm)inheight.Heighttodiameterratioequals1.15.Thistestmethodmadebeusedonlyonmaterialswith30%orlessretainedonthe3/4-in.(19.0-mm)sieve.SeeNote3.1.2.2MethodB-Thisprocedureusesatestspecimen2.8in.(71.1mm)indiameterand5.6in.(142.2mm)inheight.Heighttodiameterratioequals2.00.ThistestmethodisapplicabletothosematerialsthatpasstheNo.4(4.75-mm)sieve.1.3AllobservedandcalculatedvaluesshallconformtotheguidelinesforsignificantdigitsandroundingestablishedinPracticeD6026.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard,exceptasnotedin1.4.1-1.4.3.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunits,andareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.4.1Thegravitationalsystemofinch-poundunitsisusedwhendealingwithinch-poundunits.Inthissystem,thepound(lbf)representsaunitofforce(weight),whiletheunitformassisslugs.1.4.2Theslugunitofmassisalmostneverusedincommercialpractice(density,scales,balances,etc.).Therefore,thestandardunitformassinthisstandardiseitherkilogram(kg)orgram(g),orboth.Also,theequivalentinch-poundunit(slug)isnotgiven.1.4.3Itiscommonpracticeintheengineering/constructionprofessionintheUnitedStatestouseconcurrentlypoundstorepresentbothaunitofmass(lbm)andofforce(lbf).Thisusecombinestwoseparatesystemofunits,theabsolutesystemandthegravitationalsystem.Itisscientificallyundesirabletocombinetheuseoftwoseparatesetsofinch-poundunitswithinasinglestandard.Asstatedin1.4.2,thisstandardusesthegravitationalsys......
